Semantico presents: Solr and Go

Event Details

This month’s session features two talks from Brighton company Semantico.

Toby Cole, a Technical Architect at Semantico, will be talking about the Apache Solr search engine and how it can be used to recommend content.

George MacRorie, Java Web Developer for Semantico, is a recent graduate of the University of Sussex. He will be talking about how Semantico are adopting Go for simple tools. While Java is great for large enterprise systems, it can sometimes be difficult to produce tools for simpler tasks. George will show an existing Java-built service ported into Go, and talking about the transition from developing in Java to developing in Go.

Pizza will be provided courtesy of Semantico – sign up to the meetup.com event so we know how much to order in. There will also be beer – and we will make sure to have soft drinks in this time too!

As usual, we’ll be open from 7 for drinks and chat, with the talks starting a little after 7:30pm. We’re open to people of all abilities and especially welcome any first-timers. Hope to see you there!
